Pat Martin, Candidate for Berne, NY Town BoardMy name is Patrick Martin and I am honored to run as the Democratic candidate for Berne Town Board. My family has lived in Berne for 25 years.

I graduated from Kent State University and the University of Michigan with degrees in wildlife biology and wildlife management. I recently retired from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation where I worked for 42 years leading the Wildlife Health Unit, managing contracts, and coordinating projects with the Diagnostic Laboratory at College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University.

I have enjoyed working with different interest groups, finding common ground, and building consensus to achieve shared goals. My career has given me an understanding of how government, regulations, laws, and policies work to benefit a community. I am excited to utilize my skills to help our town.

Berne Working Together means being a member of a community that embodies trust, kindness, responsibility, and respect.

My family is rooted in the Hilltowns with my wife, Kelly, working as a wildlife rehabilitator and educator, and my daughter, Kate, working locally on environmental, sustainability, and social justice issues. I have volunteered in Berne by serving on committees, such as developing the plan to update the transfer station. When elected I will serve with honesty, integrity, transparency, and good governance in order to build a healthy community.

Pat Martin is one of the smartest and honest guys I have ever known. Berne needs him. Pat and I often argue about politics. I don’t look at party, I look at issues. Berne has some problems, it became obvious to me when they didn’t keep Cheryl Baitsholts as dog control officer. I have been watching the insane nonsense for over 2 years. Do the right thing. Elect Pat Martin and I guarantee you that you will not regret it.
